Final Third · Advanced

Your players know their actions. Now connect them.

The level above Foundations: see how the winger and #10 combine, how the #10 links with the striker, and how 2v2s in the final third create the advantages that decide games — coached with clear cues and references.

The real problem

Individual actions aren't enough anymore

In Foundations your players learned their core actions. But football is won in what happens between them — and that's where it keeps breaking down.

Players do their action alone, but don't combine — the winger and the #10 don't read each other.

You don't read the moment — fast attack, mid block, low block — or the different advantage each one opens.

The 2v2s in the final third — the ones that decide games — come and go unused.

You feel the right idea — but can't hand players the key references simply enough to act on them.

Advanced is where individual actions become connected football — reading the moment, the relationship and the advantage, and coaching it with simple cues and references.

The step up

One level deeper into the game

Foundations built the base — the core action of each role. Advanced connects them: reading situations, numerical relationships and movement, and deciding under real pressure.

The connections

The final third is won in the relationships

Individually, your players already have the actions. The game is decided when the winger and the #10 combine, when the #10 links with the striker, and when a 2v2 in the final third turns into a real advantage. Advanced trains those connections — the cues and references that let players read each other and decide together.

What your players will be able to do

Recognise when to pass or dribble

Read teammates' and defenders' movement, detect the advantage, and make the best decision in every situation.

Know when to receive between the lines or run in behind

Coach the cues that turn a static playmaker into a dynamic player who interacts even without the ball.

Coach the details

It's not just what to coach — it's how. A full list of coaching points to guide every action.

What's inside

The complete attacking picture

The #10 — the connector core role

The playmaker links every phase — broken down across the situations that decide games:

  • As possessor — the final pass, dribble through the gaps, second wave
  • As near & intermediate receiver, facing the backline
  • Against the low block, and in crossing situations
Winger & Striker, connected new content

Because the #10 only works with the players around it:

  • New: Winger as possessor — first touch, wall pass, 1v1 in motion & static, inside dribbling
  • New: Full Striker chapter, incl. counter-flow control, feint & shoot
  • Blind-spot positioning, creating space, 1v1 with space behind

Striker tips: inside the box

A quick primer on the four ideas the Striker chapter develops in full.

The finisher's checklist striker
  • 1Attack the blind spot. Start the run where the defender can't watch you and the ball at the same time.
  • 2Create space for others. Your movement drags a marker and opens the lane for a teammate.
  • 3Win the 1v1 with space behind. Attack the shoulder and let the first touch beat the line.
  • 4Counter the flow. Move against the defender's momentum, then feint and shoot.
Training breakdowns

See it built on the field

Two full session breakdowns show which constraints create the ideal scenarios — and the questions to ask while coaching.

Pass or Dribble training session breakdown
Breakdown 1
Pass or Dribble
  • Is the player passing under pressure and dribbling when free?
  • Is the dribble quick enough to draw, calm enough to play?
  • Does the pass let the teammate receive forward, away from pressure?
Final Third Movements training session breakdown
Breakdown 2
Final Third Movements
  • Is the receiver moving against the defender's flow to exploit the blind spot?
  • Is the receiver creating a situation where the first touch beats the defender?
  • Is the movement starting at the exact moment of eye contact with the possessor?
